Who is the best signing so far?

With the World Cup coming to an end, soccer fans around the world are wondering: What will we do for the next month? Preseason friendlies just aren't exciting enough to keep our attention, so for most fans of European teams, the focus will turn to the 'Transfer Window'. We have already seen what might be the most important transfer of the summer; Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Madrid for Juventus. Let's take a look at which club has made the best or most significant signing in the English Premier League. The Premier League window slams shut in about 5 weeks time, which means teams need to make moves that will set up their fortunes for next season. Here are some new arrivals I believe may prove to be the most important to their teams next season...

Jean Seri to Fulham

Fast forward to one year later and the Ivorian box-to box midfielder has signed for newly promoted Fulham, shattering their transfer record in the process. Costing around $35,000,000 the Cottagers have put a huge amount of faith (and money!) into Seri. I think they are hoping he can be the man to help them avoid relegation. This was one of the most unexpected transfers in recent years, and may well prove to be the coup of the summer.

Andriy Yarmolenko to West Ham
Image result for yarmolenkoAnother surprising transfer was Ukranian Yarmolenko leaving Dortmund after only one season to join up with new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini. The left-footed-right-winger has made a career out of cutting inside and firing shots at the goal, he is someone who will excite the West Ham fans. This isn't his only trick though, he can also provide goals for his teammates, and standing at 6'3", he shouldn't be worried about the physicality of the Premier League. For someone with his proven quality, he came in at a bargain of only around $20,000,000. West Ham will be hoping he will help them turn around their poor form from last season.

Fred to Manchester United
Manchester United have confirmed the signing of FredNew Manchester United man Fred was part of the Brazilian World Cup squad. However after suffering an ankle injury the night before the tournament began, did not play a single minute. Costing over $50,000,000 Jose Mourinho is banking on forming a lethal partnership with World Cup winner Paul Pogba. At his previous club Shaktar he was nicknamed 'The Conductor'. Which is easy to understand why given his fluid combination of pace and passing ability. I think he could be a key player as Man Utd try to win their first title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

Bernd Leno to Arsenal

When Unai Emery arrived at Arsenal, it was clear he needed a new goalkeeper. He wasted no time in recruiting German Bernd Leno. At just 26 years young he could potentially play for the Gunners for the next decade if he fulfills what I believe to be his potential. A regular at Bayer Leverkusen since he was 18, Leno can certainly handle pressure, and should be a key part in Emery's attempts to lead the Gunners back to the Champions League.

Fabinho to Liverpool
This spot could have easily gone to Naby Keita to Liverpool, but I think Fabinho's style of play will be ideal for Liverpool next season. He can play in a variety of positions, but I expect him to sit in front of the back four, breaking up play and improving Liverpool's defence. No doubt that Keita and Fabinho could prove to be a crucial partnership in Liverpools midfield. They have a lethal attacking line up, and this singing may be what it takes for them to become genuine title contenders next season. Superb business from Jurgen Klopp.

Others?
There have been a lot of other good business throughout the league, and any one of these players could prove to be the 'signing of the season'. At the time of this writing Alisson is on the verge of a record breaking move to Liverpool. They have desperately needed a World class goalkeeper for a long time. Could he be the final piece of the puzzle? Perhaps! Chelsea also managed to swipe Jorginho from under the noses of Manchester City and if he can produce the same form he showed last season, then Chelsea just got a real gem on their hands. City themselves signed 2016 PFA player of the year Riyad Mahrez, but with their vast attacking talents, he is going to have to work very hard to even get on the pitch. Arsenal's signing of Lucas Toreira, may be just what they need too. Wolves signing Rui Patricio on a free transfer may prove to be one of the shrewdest pieces of business this summer as well.

The list really could go on and on, and I'm sure that in the next coming weeks we are going to be seeing a lot more interesting and exciting signings. All I know is, that watching the daily drama of the transfer market unfold is certainly staving off my World Cup withdrawal symptoms.

Who is going to win the World Cup?

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is a week underway, and already some have teams qualified for the next round, while other squads are heading home. Let's look at some of the remaining favorites, outsiders and countries dreaming of shocking the world. All odds are from oddschecker.com . Favorites: 1. Brazil 🇧🇷 Current odds 9/2 Despite a disappointing start against Switzerland, Brazil remains the favorite. It looked like they were going to be held scoreless by Costa Rica, but the "Little Magician" Philippe Coutinho came up with the game's first goal in the last minute. At this point, all that really matters for the Brazilians is getting out of the group stage. Brazil has world class players all over the pitch, and they are undoubtedly among the favorites. 2. Spain 🇪🇸 Current odds 9/2 Spain took a huge risk by firing its manager two days before the World Cup began, but with its quality in the squad, the new manager shouldn't need long to adjust. The 2010...

Is Liverpool's long wait coming to an end?

Liverpool last won the English league in 1990, their 11th title in 18 years. If you had suggested then that 28 years later that would be their last title success, you would have been considered crazy. However that is of course the reality they have faced. In that time they have come in second place four times, but have failed to win the Premier League. There hasn't been a huge amount of success in that time. A handful of league and FA cups, 2 Champions Leagues finals where the Reds ended up on the losing side, and of course that famous night in Istanbul when Steven Gerrard almost single-handedly produced one of the greatest comebacks of all time and delivered Liverpool's fifth title. In the last 12 years Liverpool have only won on trophy. The 2012 League Cup final win against Cardiff. However I believe that lack of success and constant frustration is about to change.  In the last two seasons Jürgen Klopp has got his side into the top 4, something they had on...

Team of the World Cup

After 64 matches and and one month of almost daily soccer, the World Cup has come to an end. It was one of the most exciting and intriguing World Cups in recent history, and the competition will be remembered for a long time. The champions who were crowned on Sunday afternoon were France, and who could have possibly predicted that?  Well actually me ... At the beginning of the World Cup I always felt France had the most complete roster. With world class players in almost every position, and perhaps the next global superstar in Kylian Mbappe, to me they were always the clear favorites. My heart of course wanted England, but as I watched France tear apart Croatia, there was a little part of me that was happy I wasn't subjected to watching England suffer a similar fate. Picking a team of the World Cup is not an easy task. There have been so many standout players, and so many could warrant inclusion. Below is my attempt to try and pick the best 11 individual players of the last m...
